Your Members includes the ability to create and distribute three main types of coupons:

  • Fixed Price -- Get Gold for £4.99
  • Percentage Discount -- Get 95% off a Gold Membership
  • Hidden package -- Get access to our secret sales course with the code SECRET

NOTE: a hidden package coupon can be applied to a subscription, upgrade, individual content, or bundle (PPP pack).

How to Make a Coupon in Your Members

Go to the Your Members admin panel and select "Memberships". Then the "Coupons" tab. Here, you'll want to give the coupon a name. This will be the code you give out to members (or potential members) and the same code they'll enter into the gateway to make their purchase. So, make sure it's a single word, with no spaces in it. It should also be easy for people to use and easy for you to identify.

Next, you'll notice the value changes depending on the type of coupon you're making. For a fixed price of £10 off the total value, just add '10' to the value, without other characters. Then, if the bundle was £100 normally, it will be £90 with the coupon.

For a percentage coupon, say 20% for example, you would add '20%' to the value. Then, a £100 bundle would be £80. For a free package, for example, you'll enter the package ID into the value box with a hashtag in front (#123). This would give all members who use the coupon a #123 package.

You'll want to give your coupon a description that helps you identify it as well. This could include not only what it's for, but also where it has been advertised or how someone would come to possess the coupon.

You can also specify the number of coupons that can be used, as well as the dates the coupon can be used. This gives you the ability to limit the number of discounts you give, as well as when it can be redeemed.

Want to view a list of the users who have used a particular coupon? Click the "users" option on the main coupon page for the coupon you're curious about. Want to delete a coupon? Just click the delete option.

A Few Bits and Bobs About Your Members Coupons:

  • Editing a coupon does NOT affect members who have already used it. It only affects future members.
  • Hidden packages can only be applied to subscriptions and upgrades.
  • Upgrades can only take coupons if they're applied through a custom registration flow.
  • Standard registration doesn't provide any feedback if the coupon has been successful. Custom registration flows and buy buttons for things such as bundles and individual pieces of content will.
  • A coupon will affect the entire life of the subscription. This means Zombaio and others cannot have coupons applied because products must match on both sides.
