Localization
The application currently supports four interface languages:
- English
- French
- Russian
- Spanish
Language selection
The interface language can be changed from the language selector in the top-right corner of the application.
The selected language is stored in the application settings.
Translation system
The French XAML text acts as the translation key.
Translations are maintained in localization source files such as:
LocalizationService.csLocalizationCatalog.cs
Sentences containing dynamic values such as counts or filenames use templates stored in:
LocalizationTemplates.cs
These templates are formatted through the localization service.
Adding or updating a translation
When changing a translation:
- Find the corresponding localization entry.
- Update the relevant translation.
- Check sentences containing dynamic values.
- Verify the result in all four languages when possible.
- Make sure placeholders remain valid.
- Test the affected UI element in the application.
Placeholders
Translations may contain placeholders for dynamic values.
For example, a localized sentence may contain values such as:
- File names
- Resource counts
- Paths
- Status information
Do not remove or rename placeholders unless the localization code is updated accordingly.
Contributing
If you add a new localized string:
- Add the required translation entry.
- Add translations for all supported languages when possible.
- Use the existing localization system instead of hard-coding UI text.
- Test the string in the application.
