How to name multi-part videos

Introduction

This page is for describing how you manage videos that are in more than one part. Usually these movies are split into 700Mb files, but this doesn't matter, just that you have more than one file for the video.

Naming the files

The best way to name these files is to add CDx, DISCx, DISKx or PARTx after each part of the video file, where x is an incrementing number.

NOTE There is no space between CD/DISK/DISC/PART and the number.

Example:

T:\Videos\File [T:\Videos\File [CD2](CD1].avi).avi
T:\Videos\File [T:\Videos\File [CD1](CD3].avi).nfo

or even mixing up the part delimiters will work:

T:\Videos\File [T:\Videos\File [DISK2](DISC1].avi).avi
T:\Videos\File [T:\Videos\File [DISC1](PART3].avi).nfo

You can also give each video part its own title, a "part title". See [for more examples.

T:\Videos\Alien [Part1-Alien](TVSeriesNaming]).mkv
T:\Videos\Alien [T:\Videos\Alien [Part3-Alien 3](Part2-Aliens].mkv).mkv
T:\Videos\Alien [Resurrection](Part4-Alien).mkv

Note that the nfo file associated with this video should be named the same as the first part. See [NFO_Files] for more information

Note

Please note that with YAMJ filenames, the minus "-" character is a special character used to delimit the episode/part title in filenames. Anything after this character is ignored, so please ensure multipart video tags are BEFORE any "-" in the filename
