XGC Pokémon Modification Policy
Adapted from Project Pokémon's 2016 cheating policy, with credit to Project Pokémon for the original framework.
At Xieon's Gaming Corner (XGC), we are dedicated to fostering a vibrant, fair, and inclusive community for gamers, with a deep passion for Pokémon. Our vision champions integrity, honor, and sportsmanship across all games, ensuring every player’s experience is enhanced through fair play. We celebrate creativity through tools, ROM hacks, custom bots, and save editing, but we firmly oppose cheating that undermines others’ experiences without their consent. Using significantly modified Pokémon against unaware players in online environments (e.g., Pokémon Scarlet/Violet, Pokémon GO, Pokémon TCG Pocket) creates an unfair advantage and diminishes the fun for everyone. At XGC, we believe consenting individuals are free to engage in mutually agreed-upon modifications, but issues arise when players are unaware of the parameters, violating the spirit of fair competition.
XGC’s Vision for Pokémon VGC
XGC believes the Pokémon Video Game Championship (VGC) system is outdated, anti-consumer, anti-competitive, unsportsmanlike, and elitist. Requiring players to own multiple game generations to build meta teams creates barriers, favoring those with resources over skill. We advocate for a Pokémon Showdown-like model, where all players have equal access to Pokémon, items, and customization within the game’s design, creating a level playing field where skill determines champions. As XGC’s owner, Xieon, brings a background in video game tournament organizing, we respect the rules of tournaments we participate in, even if we disagree with them. While we push for systemic change in VGC to promote fairness and accessibility, we believe the best approach is to avoid controversy by adhering to official tournament rules, ensuring no hacked, genned, or modified Pokémon are used in these events. XGC is committed to amplifying its voice in the gaming community to drive this change while maintaining integrity in competitive play.
Allowed Uses of Cheats or Significantly Modified Pokémon
You may use cheats or significantly modified Pokémon in these contexts:
- Private Collections: Build your dream Pokédex for personal enjoyment.
- Single-Player Gameplay: Enhance your solo experience in games like Pokémon Scarlet/Violet or Pokémon GO’s PvE content.
- Local Battles with Friends: Battle locally, provided all players know and agree to the use of modified Pokémon.
- Online Battles with Consent: Battle online with friends via Friend Codes or private lobbies, as long as all participants are aware and consent to the use of modified Pokémon.
Prohibited Uses of Cheats or Significantly Modified Pokémon
Using cheats or significantly modified Pokémon in these contexts will result in warnings or infractions on XGC platforms:
- Online Battles Against Unsuspecting Players: Engaging in PvP battles (e.g., Battle League in Pokémon GO, ranked battles in Scarlet/Violet) against players unaware of your modified Pokémon.
- Trading with Unsuspecting Players: Trading via Link Trade, Surprise Trade, Wonder Trade, or GTS in any Pokémon game without disclosing modifications.
- Random Matchups: Participating in random online battles or matchups with modified Pokémon.
Actions Resulting in an Instant Ban
The following activities are strictly prohibited and will result in an immediate ban from XGC platforms:
- Tournaments: Using modified Pokémon in official or unofficial tournaments, including XGC-hosted events, as this violates our commitment to respecting tournament rules while advocating for change.
- Dangerous Activities: Distributing or promoting hacks that risk save file corruption, account bans, or console bans for unsuspecting players. Examples include:
- Hacked Tera Raids or Dynamax Adventures.
- Scarlet/Violet egg glitches.
- Unauthorized Pokémon HOME transfers.
Users requesting or providing cheats/significantly modified Pokémon for prohibited online activities, or engaging in discussions promoting such actions, will receive warnings. Repeated violations may lead to bans. If you notice cheating, report it via a ticket in our Discord (#🆘➖support-ticket-booth), and our moderators will address it promptly. Help us keep XGC’s online spaces fair and enjoyable by using hacks responsibly.
What Are Significantly Modified Pokémon?
“Significantly modified” Pokémon have altered immutable attributes or cannot be obtained through official methods. If a Pokémon fails official legality checks (e.g., in Pokémon HOME or Scarlet/Violet), it’s considered significantly modified. Examples include:
- Species changes
- Altered PID (Personality ID)
- Modified IVs
- Non-standard Pokéballs
- Changed Original Trainer (OT)
Edits that are not considered significantly modified include those achievable through official in-game methods, such as:
- Maxed EVs (within legal limits)
- Experience points
- Egg steps
- Ability changes via Ability Capsule
- Legal form changes or move combinations
If you’re unsure whether an edit qualifies as cheating, open a ticket in our Discord to ask a moderator.
Dangerous Activities to Avoid
Certain modifications can corrupt save files, trigger account bans, or damage consoles. Avoid these at all costs:
- Hacked raids or dens
- Scarlet/Violet egg glitches
- Pokémon HOME transfer exploits
- Any edit risking bans in Pokémon GO, Scarlet/Violet, or TCG Pocket
