DOMUS with Buildify - WolfclawProductions/DOMUS GitHub Wiki
Using the Buildify Plugin for Blender.
Buildify Buildify is an in-development addon for Blender which allows for the procedural generation of urban buildings. It is primarily intended for creating modern urban landscapes, but can be purposed for the creation of historical buildings, since DOMUS can be plugged into the buildify framework. Some resizing on the files will need to be done, and a private file with the adapted DOMUS pack will be made available for internal use. Buildify is an excellent tool for quickly generating buildings, as it is easy to control and implement. However, it has some notable downsides, especially for precise archaeological recreation.
As you can see, Buildify can produce something resembling Roman architecture. However, this system does have the downside of each element being generated randomly from a seed, meaning that door and window placement is hard to control, therefore it is difficult to recreate specific buildings. An additional issue is that the system can only reproduce flat, untextured rooves, only providing for models to be instantiated along the edges of the roof, therefore I have placed an Imbrex/Tegula lining along the top. At ground level, this will be sufficient, but at higher elevations this effect will be revealed. A way to overcome this is to compress the buildings until the roof times meet, although this also shows some clipping. Buildify also cannot reproduce internal spaces at this time, although if one wishes they can manually create internal structures. Ultimately, what is most difficult to reproduce is the great variety of architectural styles present within ancient Architecture, as many have a variable number of floors and uneven planning, while Buildify is intended to create something somewhat opposite of this. The uneven heights shown within the picture is the result of my placing a separate "building" to act as a tower.
Overall, what I believe Buildify to be most useful for is interrogations of urban space and street layouts, to see if a buildify-generated space can replicate spacial experiences and urban street layouts and flow.
