Converting Cisco LWAP to Controller
Converting Cisco 4800 LWAP to Cisco 4800 Controller via TFTP

Download the Cisco Mobility Express image for Cisco Aironet 4800

Download Tftpd64
-
Connect AP to a POE injector or POE switch and connect your PC to POE injector or POE switch

Set your wired connection to: 192.168.2.1, subnet: 255.255.255.0

Open Tftpd64

Set Server Interface to 192.168.2.2, and select the folder holding your image

Connect a console cable to the AP and open up PuTTY

Enter enable mode and set IP of AP: capwap ap ip 192.168.2.2 255.255.255.0 192.168.2.1

Install image: ap-type mobility-express tftp://192.168.2.1/AIR-AP4800-K9-ME-8-10-196-0.tar

Reboot the AP: reload

Confirm controller image: show version You should see "AP Image type : MOBILITY EXPRESS IMAGE AP Configuration : MOBILITY EXPRESS CAPABLE"
