Comparing different datingsites.

To get a good overview of all the different datingsites on the market, we decided to do some research with all the people in the class. We investigated multiple datingwebsites. All dating websites where divided into 2 groups. The 2 groups we decided to arrange the datingwebsites under are: "Best & Less good".

We looked at out first impressions, concepts and prizing. This research was used to get a base for the concepts used in this website.

E-matching

• Super specific matching.
• Prices: Between 11 and 19,95 euro's per month.

Zoosk

• Loads of accounts, currently around 40 million people.
• One of the first online datingsites.
• Algorithm looks at your interaction on the site and matches accordingly.
• Prices: Free option but without chat. Coins for premium features or 30 euro's each month.

Pepper

• Profile gets checked and verified if it's real.
• You can upload photo's and video's.
• You can only reply to texts if you're a paid member.
• Prices: 25 euro's per month or 8,50 per month for a year.

Parship

• Personality test to get a detailed profile of each member.
• Score very highly on safety and are found really reliable by active members.
• Prices: Free without messaging, 24,95 euro's per month with messaging.

OKcupid

• Reliable due to a authentication check.
• Matching based of a questionnaire.
• Pricing: Premium service is between 5 and 20 euros each month. Or a temporary boost for 2 euros.

Less Good

Ourtime

• Its basically like Lexa but branded towards elderly people.
• There is a check/questionaire but its quite limited.
• Pricing: free without chat, 30 euro's each month with chat.

Innercirlce

• No open registration, only via invites of active members.
• Photo's are getting checked on authenticity.
• Real life events are getting hosted.
• Prices: 30-35 euro's each month.

Tinder

• Aimed at quick interaction, based on swiping.
• Matching is mainly about looks.
• Pricing: Free, but limited swipes each day. For tinder gold you'll pay 10euro's each mont if you're younger than 30, if you're older you'd pay 20euro's each month.

VictoriaMilan

• Aimed on affaires.
• Anonymity is the highest prio on the website.
• Pricing: 40 euro's each month

Alleenstaandevaders.nl

• They ask for really detailled information about you, for example the length of your hair.
• Pricing: 10 euro's per month

Verdict

A lot of research was done about the prices of dating sites, which i found not very useful. It's not about the price, it's about how the site functions. Some of the styling was very interesting to me, more about my findings on styling can be found on the 3. Branding & Styling page. Because the main focus of the project was on the backend i didn't spend as much research time on the competitor Analysis as we usually do.

The one thing ill re-use

Almost every competitor used a therm called progressive disclosure with the registration functionality. Which makes filling in the registration form a better experience for the user since the form is divided in multiple steps. Thats something i'll try to implement in my website as well.
