Soul Harvester

Harvesterhead

This boss initially spawns when you open the unlocked Antique Cage located in the Soul Harvester Room in the dungeon. Once released, it will give the player a debuff that shows that the bird is following that player. As you defeat enemies in the dungeon, Loose Dungeon Souls will spawn; the bird will fly over to these souls and absorb them, undergoing transformations after absorbing a certain amount of souls. You can track how many it has eaten by hovering over the debuff icon. The bird is quick, but if you're quicker with a bug net, you can take the souls first!

Once it gorges itself on enough souls, you become the next main course. The boss will unleash several attacks in an attempt to turn you into a meal, either by clawing at you with sharpened talons or by sending fireballs your way. The boss may seem frail at first glance, but nothing is ever as it seems! This bird will absolutely bite the hand that had fed it, but if you conquer the ungrateful skeletal avian, you will find that it releases some of the souls it had eaten. All Loose Dungeon Souls, both floating around in the dungeon and in players' inventories and storage, will then transform into Freed Dungeon Souls.

  • Soul Harvester loot table:
  • Certain NPCs are prevented from spawning Loose Dungeon Soul NPCs, those include:
    • Harvester and Souls themselves
    • NPCs that are immune to all debuffs
    • Statue spawned NPCs
    • Boss "minions" (eg. Servant of Cthulhu, Creeper, includes slimes spawned from King Slime)
    • All worm NPC segments besides the head (including modded ones, but no guarantees, report on the forum thread if you find any that drop them)
  • You can use the item version of the soul to spawn the version that the Soul Harvester can consume
  • If the room did not generate, the boss initially spawns upon entering the hostile zone of the dungeon once Skeletron has been defeated
  • The amount of souls it consumes before transforming is 36. Current amount is seen by hovering over the debuff icon
  • Hovering over the Dungeon Souls shows additional information
  • The boss will enrage if you leave the dungeon for prolonged periods of time
  • You cannot redo the first stage of the encounter again in the same world
