For undated, imprecisely dated, or misdated FRUS documents, a variety of sources offer clues to the single date or date range of the historical documents.

C.1. Document Header

Generally crafted by compilers at the time of publication, the document header serves as the most authoritative source of information. When a date, dateTime, or range is present, staffers should defer to the temporal declaration in the head in the majority of cases.
