VFP: Food Dictionary

As of: version mc1.11.2-3.2b1 (Jun-2017)

The table below gives a quick overview of the more useful Forge OreDictionary mappings VanillaFoodPantry uses. In general, VFP assigns ids to common mod-interchanged ingredients like "wheat flour". VFP does NOT define ids for every single ingredient or item it contains and probably never will as this just clutters the Forge dictionary with mod-specific implementation junk.

Author's Note

Whenever possible we consider pre-existing ids that Forge already defines for standard items. We might also consider reuse of ids that popular mods or modpacks already use for easier integration but in general we use our own naming scheme in VFP. Leave suggestions and report conflicts with the mod's Issue Tracker.

Common IDs

Generalizations

You might find these mappings will be useful for referencing groups of VFP and other modpack foodstuffs as you configure other mods like The Spice of Life, ToughAsNails, and Smart Hoppers. The mappings are also helpful if you want to assign items that are randomish-within-a-specific-set to vending machines and loot table pools.

Id Description
foodCookie Any kind of single serving cookie; side-effects or special-effects ignored. Includes the standard chocolate-chip cookie and all of VFP's cookies.
foodBreadSandwich Any bread that is suitable for making multiple (usually 3) regular sandwiches. Generally excludes specialty and "sweety deserty" breads but you should not rely on that. Often used for "jumbo-sized" sandwiches as well (1 or 2 per bread). Includes the standard wheat bread and VFP's simple breads.
foodBread Super-set of foodBreadSandwich that includes any kind and size of bread. Basically you decide what a bread is; often the same as the bread Forge id. Nutritional values of items within this general category can vary wildly. Includes all of the VFP simple and specialty breads.
foodDrink Any single serving bottle or cup drink such as bottled water, milk drinks, fizzy drinks, teas, juices, etc. Side-effects and special-effects are ignored (for example VFP's tonics are included). Should EXCLUDE "buckets-of-stuff" like milk buckets or items that can vary in volume like portable tanks. Even with the bucket restriction, the nutritional values of items within this category can vary wildly. Should include canteens and liquid pouches if each use of the item is equivalent to a bottle-sized portion.
foodSandwich Any kind of single serving ready-to-eat sandwich; side-effects or special-effects ignored. Nutritional values of items within this general category can vary but in general should serve as replacements for the standard bread or roasted chicken. Includes all of VFP's sandwiches and stuffed rolls.
foodCurative Any consumable item that has a curative side-effect; for example, VFP's bottle of milk or tulip tonic, or PnK's sedation cure. This category allows you to easily select the modpack's food items that a player should be able to consume at any time (as affected by hunger or food management mods like TAN or SpiceOfLife).
