The pinkly Hack Sword's name says it all. This weapon is meant to cut, hack, slash and bring general misery to your enemies. In particular, it's very good at lobing off mob heads; all kinds of heads. Don't be fooled by its seemingly low base attack stats, a hack sword is made out of seasoned stained bone shards that have partaken in a lot of up-close melee combat and the sword adjusts its attack damage strategy depending on the hit target. The stronger the target, the more effective using a pinkly Hack Sword becomes.
Repair
The downside of a hack sword, is that it has pretty poor durability. However, you can repair a pinkly Hack Sword on an anvil with Mending Twine or any of its derivatives like Reinforced Twine. Also, every time you behead a mob, the sword will automatically repair some of its damage, up to 10% of its max durability per kill. The sword's anvil repair cost is also reduced for every head the sword claims.
Limited Enchanting
As of now, the only way to enchant a hack sword is with X-Enchantments and then only a small subset of enchants will stick: Sharpness, Protection, Looting, Corrupting Taint, Sweeping Edge, and Silk Touch. Looting and Silk Touch are particularly important if you want to ensure each kill drops a mob head; otherwise, the drop rate for mob heads is approximately 1 per 16 kills if no looting is present.
Skull Ooze
Sometimes it's not possible to drop a mob's head; this is often the case for modded mobs. When this happens, a Hack Sword instead drops a substitute item, Skull Ooze. While not as good as a fancy head, skull ooze gives you a way to craft other mob heads: using skull ooze, a properly impressed Darkened Eye, and a block of clay, you can craft standard Minecraft mob heads as well as most of PinklySheep's custom mob heads.
Make your own guardian head!
For multi-variant mobs like sheep, parrots, and villagers, the craft recipe produces only the base head.
Double The Trouble
The Double Hack Sword is the more effective and longer-lasting big brother of the Hack Sword. If you're serious about collecting all the mod's custom mob heads or just farming heads in general, try to save enough resources to make this weapon instead of the entry-level Hack Sword.
Better Enchanting
A Double Hack Sword will also hold a larger set of X-Enchantments than a base Hack Sword. First, no Silk Touch enchantment is required to maximize your head drop rate; it's builtin! Second, you can add Unbreaking to your sword although Mending and such derivatives are still not accepted.
Advancements
In addition to the thrill (or terror) of pursuing every type of hostile mob in your world for its head, you gain a couple of mod advancements for using either kind of hack sword.
