Your weather
Traditionally aviation weather apps have provided users a way to consume METAR information disseminated on the AFTN network
Aero Met provides a weather sharing platform unlike any other. Any user can create and manage weather reporting for an aerodrome regardless of the size of your operation. A farmer's strip, a local aerodrome, a larger aerodrome which doesn't submit METARs directly to the AFTN network, a pilot who's experienced the weather first hand. Anyone can create weather observations or reports.
One of our goals is to bring together all types of weather information into a single location so that you can build the best picture of what's happening that is possible.
For more information on submitting weather via the app go to the Submit Weather page.
METARS
We retrieve global aviation weather from the Aviation Weather Center for any aerodrome which is registered on Aero Met. If you register an aerodrome with the correct ICAO code used by the METAR data then it will be frequently refreshed
Other sources
Some weather information is published by aerodromes on Twitter, on their websites, and various other means. This data can be retrieved and published on the Aero Met platform and by way of example the METAR reports sent by Redhill from @EGKRWeather are being captured.
