Connecting your sources with a Virtual Set - VirTV/VirTV_OBS GitHub Wiki

We've created a simple system so you can easily attach your media sources to the virtual set

Setting up Displays, Logo, Background and Speaker

  • Please make sure that you've added your sources into the OBS Studio and moved them into the "Your sources" folder like it was shown at the Adding your sources page of this wiki

  • In the OBS Scenes list open a scene with the name of a virtual set source that you want to set up (Display, Logo, Background or Speaker)

    source_scenes

  • In the OBS Sources list double click on the source that has "(Link your source here)" in its name

    link_display

    link_logo

    link_background

    link_speaker

  • In the opened window click on the dropdown list called "Source", then find and click on the desirable media source

Take a note that in the Sources dropdown list you'll see a list of all sources that exist in your current OBS Scene collection. We advise to name your media sources starting with a number or a capital letter - that'll ensure that your media sources appear at the top of the list!

  • Press "OK"

    source_setup

After you've linked your source to the appropriate scene it'll automatically adjust its size to fit the proper aspect ratio - you don't need to do anything else here

Additional Speaker setup

First, in your Speaker setup scene click on the folder_speaker source (or simply click on the speaker in the preview window) - you'll see a red box appear around your speaker, meaning they're now selected

Sometimes it's required to crop your speaker video if the green screen doesn't cover the whole frame of the video:

  • Hold down the "ALT" button on your keyboard, then click and drag the red squares at the edges of your speaker video to perform cropping

    speaker_crop

Remember, if you accidentally make a mistake, for example, move your actor away or crop them wrong, you can always revert it by clicking "Edit > Undo" or by pressing "CTRL + Z" on your keyboard

Since our Speaker is an actor filmed on a green screen, we'll want to remove the green screen and optionally adjust their colors to better fit the virtual set. We've already prepared these filters so you can quickly activate and adjust them:

  • Press the filters_button button to open the list of filters availabe for your speaker

  • Press the eye_button icon next to the "Chroma Key" and "Color Correction" filters to turn them on

    speaker_filters

  • Adjust settings for each filter to remove the green screen and color correct your video until you reach the desired result

  • Press "OK"

Positioning Speaker in the Virtual Set

Because every speaker video is different, it's usually required to adjust the position of the speaker at every scene:

  • Choose a scene where you want to adjust the position of the speaker

  • Click on the speaker_move_source source (or simply click on the speaker in the preview window) - you'll see a red box appear around your speaker

  • Click and drag the red squares at the edges of your speaker to change their size

  • Click and drag the speaker to move them into a desired position
