Vice hack questions
Patching
What should I do to patch the game?
Refer to the wiki main page for that.
Can I apply 2.1 to my 2.0 Bin or apply 2.2 to my 2.1 BIN?
No, you should get a fresh vanilla ROM before starting the patching process again.
Vice 2.1 has too many differences from Vice 2.0 and Vice 2.2 to be compatible.
What are the different installers for?
-
Vice 2.2 installer: Apply the Vice hack and any optional patches compatible with it. You must always use a vanilla file for this installer.
-
Randomizer installer: Randomize a Vice hack 2.2 as of now, make sure it is that version.
-
Vice 2.0/2.1 installer: Apply the Vice hack and any optional patches compatible with it. You must always use a vanilla file for this installer.
-
Hardcore installer: Apply the hardcore hack only. Compatible only with vanilla, randomized and Maeson. DO NOT use it with a Vice 2.0/2.1 file.
-
Optional installer: Apply optional patches to an already patched file. Check the question mark on the installer for compatibility details.
My game is broken/crashes after patching
Make sure you followed the instructions and the ROM you are using is the right one, if the problem persist, you can always try to contact me through Youtube, the issues/discussions here and the modding community discord.
Do I have to start my save over again after I make a new patch?
No, saves should be compatible between versions. There are a few exceptions:
- If you have applied the Myotismon patch and your current partner is Machinedramon. Viceversa is the same.
- If you have applied the Panjyamon patch and your current partner is WereGarurumon. Viceversa is the same.
- If you have applied the Filth challenge and your current partner is Machinedramon. If your partner is PlatinumSukamon, you cannot go back to any other version until you change your partner.
You can safely also change a Vice version while using the same save file: go from 2.0 to 2.1 with the same save file, etc...
NOTE: This only applies to normal saves (sleep, in Jijimon's house or the ending), savestates are not compatible between versions or patches.
How can I randomize Hardcore?
You can only randomize a vanilla hardcore file as of now:
- Use the randomizer and create a vanilla randomized file. Apply the patches you prefer.
- Use the Hardcore installer and apply the hardcore patch. Make sure you don't fix the same bugs the randomizer does.
- Enjoy
Playing
How do I know I'm playing the Vice hack?
Any Vice 2.0: Try to select night or no friends as options, see if a different digimon comes up. Check the "sm. recovery", now it should be named "HP Floppy". Check the chart, more squares should be available.
For Vice 2.1: Check the stats menu, it should be pretty different.
For Vice 2.2: The tecniques damage number should have a slightly different position.
Why the features shown in X stream/video are not appearing?
Those might have been part of an optional patch, check the description of those to match the video or try to ask the person about which optional patches were used.
The game has become too easy/difficult
You can always create a new patch and change the patches to make it to your liking.
Where is the evolution chart for this version?
The hack still uses the vanilla evolution line, the only changes are the new digimon.
How can I evolve to the new digimon?
Check the spreadsheet for all the data, otherwise this small document also has the data: New digimon evo document
How to do the new events?
Check the spreadsheet or check my Youtube channel for an explanation about those. You can also just play and check for hints/secrets.
Why SkullGreymon/Unimon don't have a tech boost?
They do have it, the boost value is not show until you select the technique "Dynamite Kick".
Other questions
What comes next?
No idea, I have plans but no way to know if those will succeed. I don't want to make promises I cannot fullfil.
Can you add X digimon?
The more I get asked that question, the less likely it will be for it to appear. I know people would like to see their favourite digimon in the game... but there is quite a bit of work involved in adding a digimon and I cannot please everyone.
Why does X feature does not exist yet?
I'm working on this as much as I can, but I'm not a machine or I have full control over anything in the game... While I read about what people want, not everything is possible and there is so much one person alone can do...
Also, make sure that feature DOES NOT exists, I have gotten requests of features that have been implemented already...
Will this become compatible with Maeson?
I don't have any plans to do that, Maeson already has the bug fixes and some of the new features. I'm also not planning to add the rebalance from Maeson.
