Discussing Questions
1. What’s the one thing I bring to this career (and a potential employer) that nobody else can?
As an individual with a strong willingness to learn, I believe that my desire for continuous improvement sets me apart in my career. I am highly curious and enthusiastic, which drives me to explore new ideas and concepts. Additionally, I am perseverant and do not give up easily, which allows me to face challenges with a positive mindset and a determination to overcome them.
These traits and characteristics make me a unique and valuable asset to any potential employer. My commitment to learning and open-mindedness enable me to stay adaptable and receptive to new ideas, making me a strong team player who can contribute to collaborative problem-solving efforts. Moreover, my positive attitude and growth mindset can help to motivate others and foster a supportive work environment.
2. What are 3 things I’ll start doing to “un-stick” myself whenever I get stuck on tough piece of code, logic, or feature?
As a cybersecurity professional, encountering tough coding challenges or getting stuck on specific features is a common occurrence. In such situations, I rely on various strategies to un-stick myself and find effective solutions.
To begin with, I take a break of 10 or 15 minutes from the problem to clear my mind and return with fresh energy. This helps me approach the problem from a different perspective, often leading to new insights. As a cybersecurity practitioner, I understand the importance of taking breaks to reduce mental fatigue or frustation, which is crucial in maintaining focus and creativity.
Secondly, I break down the problem into smaller pieces like a true enginner to identify the root cause of the issue. This approach helps me to stay organized and focused on the task at hand, which can be particularly helpful when dealing with complex cybersecurity problems. By breaking down the problem into smaller parts, I can tackle the issue one step at a time, which can significantly improve my chances of finding a successful solution.
Lastly, I collaborate with colleagues, communities or cybersecurity expertise to seek feedback and support. Working with others enables me to gain new insights and perspectives on a problem, leading to more efficient and effective solutions. It also provides me with an opportunity to learn from other cybersecurity professionals and improve my skills. In the field of cybersecurity, collaboration is essential, and seeking feedback and support from others can lead to better outcomes.
