Prerequisites
To understand the content in this page, you should
- Be on a ware lab team
- Get your ware lab badge
Weld Lab Access
You will need to complete ALCE 3494 - Advanced Welding Technology, in order to gain weld lab access. This 1 credit class is offered in both the fall and spring and meets once a week for 3 hours. You will learn how to use oxy-fuel, stick, mig and tig welding mechanics. And after the completion if the class you will be allowed to use the weld lab. The class is self paced, so it can take as little as 7-8 weeks depending on your previous experience, but you have the whole semester to complete it.
Signing Up
- Ask your team lead to give you the link for the class registration
Weld Lab Access
After you have completed the course, the instructor will send an email to let Phil know you have finished. You will need to do the following:
- Make sure your ware lab badge is current
- Make sure you EHS certifications are up-to-date, if you don't already have machine shop access you will need to complete the following: Machine Shop Safety. In addition to that, everyone will have to complete: Compressed Gas Cylinder Safety and Welding and Cutting Safety.
- Complete the "Weld Shop Quiz" in canvas
- Fill out and email the last page of the "WL machine, welding users manual" under, Files > Policy Manuals
- Set up a time for Phil to show you around the lab
