Plug your iPhone into a Mac Laptop with a lightning cable

on iPhone go to Settings > Personal Hotspot and turn it on

Goto: Apple > System Preferences > Network

Select Wi-Fi from list on left and Turn WiFi Off

Select "iPhone USB" from list on left

Click Pair Bluetooth (something like that) - this will pop up a number on both mac and iphone. Click ok if they match!

After "pairing" the iPhone USB item should go green in the list (might toggle a few times while connection is established).

Now your macbook is using internet provided by your iPhone, through the lightning cable!

On the macbook, goto "Sharing" in system preferences (click the back arrow, or type "Sharing" into the search field)

Select "iPhone USB" in the "Share your connection from:" dropdown

and in the "To computers using:" list, select "Wi-Fi"

Click "Wi-Fi" options to name your network and set a password. Select "WPA2 Personal" for xChip compatibility.

Click "OK" to accept settings.

Check the "Internet Sharing" box in the list on the left to turn it on

The light should go green and your wifi signal indicator in your top toolbar should go grey with an arrow.

It should be working!
