Saves with the extensions .sav
and .sav
+ a number 1 through 9 will be shown. The saves must be raw, such as from nds-bootstrap, YSMenu, Wood, GodMode9i dumps, etc for DS games and GBARunner2, GodMode9i dumps, etc for GBA games.
- Most Slot-1 DS flashcards should work, please report it if yours doesn't
- Modded DSi consoles can work from any exploit with SD access, but Unlaunch must be installed for Slot-1 access
- 3DS consoles from DSiWarehax or CFW, but you should probably use FlagBrew's PKSM as it has 3DS game support and runs in 3DS mode
- no$gba in DSi Mode
Maybe, ROM hacks are not officially supported, however it is entirely possible that some ROM hacks may work. If the Pokédex, Pokémon, items, etc are left alone then it is likely to work. If just the Pokédex, Pokémon, items, etc and not the save format itself is changed then textures, species, items, etc may be wrong, but editing may still work. If the actual save format has been modified than even simple things will likely be completely broken.
Probably not, if they actually recreate the game correctly then they should work, but most are designed to be really cheap and don't actually recreate the cartridge correctly. For GBA games this is likely from using a different save type and so they just dump garbage data, for DS games their likely actually a flashcard with an autoboot game built in (especially likely if it shows a different game on the menu). For flashcard style DS fakes it might be possible to load pkmn-chest from the card itself if it has a microSD inside it, but no guarantees it will work correctly.
pkmn-chest maekes backups every time you save changes, you can find these in sd:/_nds/pkmn-chest/backups
inside a folder with the same name as your save (without the .sav
). They're named with the date and time when you saved in the format YYYYMMDD-HHMMSS.sav.bak
, so just find that latest one that works and rename it to remove the .bak
and you can restore it. (Currently you have to use another app to restore as that hasn't been added to pkmn-chest yet)
You need to install Unlaunch for pkmn-chest to be able to access Slot-1 as DSiWare (and thus DSiWare exploits) don't have access to it. Follow dsi.cfw.guide to get it installed.
