To use pkmn-chest you either need a modded DSi, 3DS with Custom Firmware, or any DS with a flashcard. Below you can find installation instructions for all of these, please follow the one that applies to you.

1. Download the latest pkmn-chest.nds
2. Copy pkmn-chest.nds wherever you want on your SD card
3. Launch pkmn-chest, if it launches successfully, you're done!
4. If it instead shows a nitroFSInit() Failed! error, either use TWiLight Menu++ or HBMenu or copy pkmn-chest.nds to sd:/_nds/pkmn-chest/pkmn-chest.nds (make sure to update this file too when updating pkmn-chest)

To have pkmn-chest show up on your SDNAND DSi Menu when using hiyaCFW requires special steps:

1. Download the latest pkmn-chest.nds (If using a nightly, use pkmn-chest.dsi)
2. Copy pkmn-chest.nds to sd:/_nds/pkmn-chest/pkmn-chest.nds
   • Make the folders if they do not exist
3. Download Title Manager for hiyaCFW and copy tmfh.nds to your SD card if you don't already have it
4. Open TMFH using Unlaunch, TWiLight Menu++, etc
5. Select Install
6. Browse to sd:/_nds/pkmn-chest/pkmn-chest.nds and choose to Install as System Title
   • Install will work too, but installing as a system title makes it so that you don't have to worry about the DSi Menu's 25MB limit
7. Your done! When updating remember to both update pkmn-chest.nds and reinstall it using TMFH.

Note: You should check out Flagbrew's PKSM if you would prefer a 3DS mode app with support for 3DS Pokémon games.

You can install pkmn-chest using Universal-Updater or manually with the following instructions:

1. Download the latest release pkmn-chest.nds and pkmn-chest.cia
2. Copy pkmn-chest.nds to sd:/_nds/pkmn-chest/pkmn-chest.nds and pkmn-chest.cia somewhere on your SD where you'll be able to find it
   • Make the folders if they do not exist
3. Use FBI to install pkmn-chest.cia
4. You're done! Make sure to update pkmn-chest.nds too when updating pkmn-chest

pkmn-chest will default to your console's currently language. If you don't want to use that language you can change it by pressing SELECT on the first menu that appears, then changing the language to the one you prefer.
