For the installation of MKS you might run into some corner cases. This page navigates you through most of the problems.

Overview

MKS can be installed manually or via CKAN. It is recommended to use the manual method, since CKAN can cause inconsistencies in the installation.

Manual Installation

Download

Get the Installation zip from one of the USI-official sites:
USI mod catalog
Dropbox

Extract

Extract the contents of the GameData folder in the Zip into the folder KSP_INSTALLATION_DIR/GameData.

Verify

Make sure that you have the following items in KSP_INSTALLATION_DIR/GameData:

  • 000_USITools
  • CommunityResourcePack
  • Firespitter
  • Squad
  • UmbraSpaceIndustries
  • ModuleManager.X.X.X.dll

and that you have the following items in KSP_INSTALLATION_DIR/GameData/UmbraSpaceIndustries:

  • Kolonization
  • Kontainers
  • MKS
  • ReactorPack

If one of them is missing, then you have a first indication that something went wrong. In most cases it is better (read: faster, less error-prone) to start with a fresh KSP installation and perform a re-installation of MKS.

Manual Upgrade

  1. delete MKS and Kontainers from KSP_INSTALLATION_DIR/GameData/UmbraSpaceIndustries
  2. delete 000_USITools, CommunityResourcePack & ModuleManager.X.X.X.dll from KSP_INSTALLATION_DIR/GameData
  3. re-install according to the above instructions
  4. verify that files in KSP_INSTALLATION_DIR/GameData/firespitter are consistent (no multiple dll's)

CKAN installation

CKAN installations are not recommended and will not receive support. If you have a problem after installing MKS with CKAN, please make sure that the problem also happens in a manual installation before reporting it to the forum thread.
