b.PI_2pic_f19g16_NESSC_control 3000-4060 Low resolution PI control run with 2x pre industrial concentrations (2pic) of CO2 and CH4 (and 1pic N2O and CFKs). Overflows and tidal mixing are off. This is a branch run that started from the 3000-01 restart files of b.PI_1pic_f19g16_NESSC_control
b.PI_4pic_f19g16_NESSC_control 0001-2000 Low resolution PI control run with 4x pre industrial concentrations (4pic) of CO2 and CH4 (and 1pic N2O and CFKs). Overflows and tidal mixing are off. This run started from NCAR initial conditions (so not! from the restartfiles of 3000-01 of run b.PI_1pic_f19g16_NESSC_control).
b.PI_1pic_f19g16_NESSC_control_restart_ 2500_pi_vdc_overflows_tidal_on 2500-3000 run that was started from the 2500-01 restartfiles of b.PI_1pic_f19g16_NESSC_control. Vertical diffusivity constants (vdc) are kept at Pre Industrial values (bckgrnd_vdc1 = 0.16, bckgrnd_vdc2 = 0) , but now overflows and tidal mixing are on.
b.PI_1pic_f19g16_NESSC_control_restart_ 2500_palaeo_vdc_overflows_tidal_off 2500-6500 run that was started from the 2500-01 restartfiles of b.PI_1pic_f19g16_NESSC_control. Overflows and tidal mixing are kept off but now vertical diffusivity constants (vdc) are set to the deep time settings (bckgrnd_vdc1 = 0.524, bckgrnd_vdc2 = 0.313)

spinup_pd_maxcores_f05_t12 0001-0300 High resolution present day control run with year 2000 greenhouse gases (CO2, CH4 , N2O and CFKs). Overflows and tidal mixing are on.
rcp8.5_co2_f05_t12 2000-2100 High resolution run with CO2 values according to the RCP8.5 scenario. Other greenhouse gases (CH4 , N2O and CFKs) are kept fixed to year 2000 values. This is a so called 'hybrid' run that started from the 0200-01 restart files of spinup_pd_maxcores_f05_t12. In contrast to a 'branch' run a hybrid run can be given another startdate (2000)
rcp8.5_co2_f05_t12_olga 2017 and 2100 (1 aug - 10 oct) High resolution run with CO2 values according to the RCP8.5 scenario. Other greenhouse gases (CH4 , N2O and CFKs) are kept fixed to year 2000 values. This is in fact run rcp8.5_co2_f05_t12 but this one outputs daily temperature, salinity and velocities on all vertical levels as well as daily sea level pressure and surface winds for the period 1 aug - 10 oct of years 2017 and 2100. This is a branch run that started from the 2017-06 and 2100-06 restart files of rcp8.5_co2_f05_t12. The run was done for collegue Olga Kleptsova.
b.e10.B2000_CAM5.f05_t12.pd_control.4xco2.001 2000-2050 High resolution run forced with an instantaneous quadrupling of the CO2 value at year 2000 so with 1568 ppmv. Other greenhouse gases (CH4 , N2O and CFKs) are kept fixed to year 2000 values. This is a so called 'hybrid' run that started from the 0200-01 restart files of spinup_pd_maxcores_f05_t12. In contrast to a 'branch' run a hybrid run can be given another startdate (2000)"
grl_fw_prace_f05_t12 0000-0035 "High resolution present day run with a realistic (approximately 0.1Sv) freshwater flux around Greenland and with year 2000 greenhousegases (CO2, CH4 , N2O and CFKs). Overflows and tidal mixing are on. This is the same run as spinup_pd_maxcores_f05_t12 but in this run a realistic amount of freshwater belonging to each specific year was dumped, by enhanced runoff around Greenland. The runoff is distributed in a realistic spatial and temporal pattern around the coast of Greenland inspired by studies of present-day runoff from the Greenland Ice Sheet. The freshwater forcing files were made by collegue Jan Lenaerts.

b.e10.B_RCP8.5_CO2_CAM5.f02_t12. spinup_from_lowres_2002-01 2002 (1 jan - 1 dec) Ultra high resolution (i.e. with 0.25° atmosphere/land) run with CO2 values according to the RCP8.5 scenario. Other greenhouse gases (CH4 , N2O and CFKs) are kept fixed to year 2000 values. This is a 'hybrid' run that started from the 2002-01 restart files of the lower resolution rcp8.5_co2_f05_t12 (ocean and ice restartfiles were instantly usable, atmosphere and land restartfiles first had to be interpolated, cpl restartfile is not needed for hybrid runs which is very convenient in this case). This run is a spinup of 1 year. Its december restartfiles will be used as the start of an ensemble of 5 runs. In this ensemble we resimulate the period 2003-2007 of rcp8.5_co2_f05_t12 in which El-Nino/La-Nina was relatively stable but now with a higher atmosphere/land resolution so that we can study hurricanes"

Other greenhouse gases (CH4 , N2O and CFKs) are kept fixed to year 2000 values. It is a 'branch' run that started from the 2002-12 restart files of b.e10.B_RCP8.5_CO2_CAM5.f02_t12.spinup_from_lowres_2002-01
b.e10.B_RCP8.5_CO2_CAM5.f02_t12. started_2002-12.002 dec 2002 - dec 2007 (not started yet) Ensemble member 2 of the ultra high resolution (i.e. with 0.25° atmosphere/land) runs with CO2 values according to the RCP8.5 scenario. Other greenhousegases (CH4 , N2O and CFKs) are kept fixed to year 2000 values. It is a 'branch' run that started from the 2002-12 restart files of b.e10.B_RCP8.5_CO2_CAM5.f02_t12.spinup_from_lowres_2002-01 with a small perturbation (day 2 minus day 1 of december) in the Temperature field at 500hPa of the atmosphere restart file."
