Overview

Here is a summary of the user test plan and test results I executed in Sprint 2. These user feedback can help me find the points that need to be improved in the pixel drawing and help me better iterate the final player sprite.

Test Plan

This user test uses the form of online Google form question and answer as the test method. But because Google Forms is perfect for collecting user feedback on less demanding projects, you only need to ask users for input on specific questions. Therefore, for character design, I choose the form form to complete user testing.

  1. Which player sprite fits the game better?
  2. If any of the elements you like from the 3 sprites above?
  3. Do you think the sprite fits the game context and design guidelines?
  4. What other elements do you think a plumber should have?

Aims and Objects

  • Verify that the design of the base character meets the requirements of the game

  • Make sure the majority of the studio is happy with the character concept

  • Identify more popular character designs

  • Get information about the role that needs to be improved

Summary

The following four points can be drawn from this user test:

  1. The final version of the design will be evenly divided between base plumber and bald plumber.

  2. Bald heads, small packs (kits), and patches are popular elements. (It can be confirmed that bald was selected as plumber in the final version according to the results of the second question.)

  3. The main characters are designed to fit the design guidelines and content requirements of most people.

  4. Add sentimental expressions. The characters are a little more scruffy. Continue to refine the character design on a simple pixel draft and the image becomes better looking (with more detail).

There are also some response for user comments:

  1. The way the plumber holds the weapon requires cooperation and communication with the weapon Team 4.

  2. More plumber's uniform, because the game is Greek theme can't be too modern. After discussion with the group, it was decided not to adopt.

  3. The comparison to enemies is due to the fact that the character is 64x64 in size, which will be changed if needed in later sprints.
