Description

The player guide is a screen under the pause menu that the user can easily access anytime during the game. This is a simple tutorial that covers basic information such as game overview, weapon info, how to win, how to craft and how to access inventory.

How to Access

  • "Esc" + Click the "Player Guide" Button

Design 1: Initial Design

To keep the consistency between the pause screen, the same pop out layout was used. However, The side bar (left side) with little boxes that contains titled information is created. On the right hand side, it has a lighter background compared to the pause screen as information will be written therefore the background was designed to not clash with the text that will be incorporated.

Design 2: Adding the Text (Level 1)

Text are added on the left side that contains the main heading. On the right side, contains that information related to the chosen heading.

Note: Each Design has a different "selected colour", depending on the heading the player has currently chosen.

Design 3: Level 2 Player Guide

Similar to level 1, the layout was kept the same to the level 2 pause screen. This is to attain consistency in the design of the pause screen and its components. However, the images in the level 2 game overview is different to level 1. This is to add uniqueness to the page and relatability to the current level but some pages contains the same information for both levels.

  • The skill tree section of the player guide was updated. However, the design was not redesigned into a tree. Therefore, the book image / current skill tree is implemented in the guide.

  • The buffs were replaced with statistics of the weapons because from the user testing, it was more appropriate in the player guide. Since there was a lot of weapons, the levelling up page was also removed and replaced with a weapons continued page as the information was merged with the how to win page.

  • There was an error with the final boss for level 1. The enemy image is updated to the correct png file.
