Main Feature Potions - UQdeco2800/2022-studio-2 GitHub Wiki
Potions have the main functionality of impacting a player’s health and speed stats, as well as providing defence against attacking enemies. Each potion will have a different appearance, allowing players to differentiate between them. It is important to note that potions will not be stackable, and ‘Potion Cooldown’ will be utilised to ensure that players aren’t able to drink more than one potion simultaneously.
Armour will be wearable and will protect against attacks from enemies. Additionally, shields will, depending on the type, protect against varying amounts of damage, gain small amounts of HP when an enemy is eliminated, or reflect impending damage onto the attacker. If these three categories are finalised, the team will focus on adding additional features, such as spells, robes, and wands. Briefly, spells will have the same basic functionality as potions, robes will protect against magical attacks, and wands will be able to store magical energy to restore a player’s health when required.
By creating a rarity chart, players will be able to track the scarcity and power of each item, giving them an urge to search for the rarest pieces. All of these items will be storable in the player's inventory and can be easily called upon using their keypad.
These features will undoubtedly make the overall game more engaging and compelling, as well as create a more in-depth gameplay experience, providing players with side-quests to locate the items and experience their different abilities.
In terms of the initial appearance of these items, a player will begin the game with three potions in their inventory, including a basic speed, strength, and health potion. Other items will be scattered around the map and are to be found by the player throughout the course of the game.
