Crafting UI Visual Assets Design Sprint Two - UQdeco2800/2022-studio-2 GitHub Wiki
Ideation Process
Through user testing of the initial crafting menu design, it is clear that a vast majority of users would like to see this menu updated. 94.7% of users expressed that the original crafting menu design could be updated to better represent the themes of the game. (See data in User Testing Section below)

To start the ideation process of a new crafting menu, the following document was made to show the inspiration and ideas of what an improved design would entail:
An inspiration board was also created, to demonstrate the look/style of what the new menu would look like:
Sketching/Design Process
After researching ideas for the updated crafting menu, sketches were created to demonstrate the general layout and design:
These sketches will be useful when creating the final product in pixel form.
Initial Updated Design
Through the use of the initial sketches, a pixelated image was created. This is the intial updated design that will be user tested and critiqued:

Design Iterations and Sprint 2 Final Designs
After deciding on which changes were to be made to the initial design, a second iteration was created, encompassing the feedback provided through user testing. The following design was created:
First page -> Inventory:
Second Page -> Catelogue Page 1:
Third Page -> Catelogue Page 2:
- Most notable of the changes in this iteration is the use of darker browns (to match the crafting table). This makes the crafting table and the crafting menu look more cohesive (as seen below)
Designs to be Implemented in Sprint 3
In discussing future endeavours for this feature, our team has decided that each level will feature a new crafting table and associated crafting menu, each matching the theme of their respective level. Our goal in doing this is to increase cohesiveness between the crafting features and the rest of the game. So, whilst new designs will be created to feature in different levels, we will also continue to update the level 1 crafting menu (the scroll), based on the feedback given in user testing.
Here is an example of how we might further develop the scroll menu:
Here is an example of how the crafting menu may change between levels:
Pushing Forward the Implementation of Sprint 3 Design Idea
In discussing how much time our team would have to spare at the end of sprint 2, it was decided that the updated scroll design, seen in the Sprint 3 Ideas section, could be implemented in this sprint instead. Although this was a short-notice decision, we believe that the implementation of this improved design ultimately encapsures ALL feedback given in user testing.
Hence, the final design for the crafting menu is as follows:
First page -> Inventory:
Second Page -> Catelogue Page 1:
Third Page -> Catelogue Page 2:
