Sprint 2 Results

Round 1

User Feedback Notes

Trojan Horse

  • At an angle but not 3D
    • Flat, needs dimension/depth
    • Suggestion: 2-3 shades of colour per element
  • Horse is not centred on board - move back further
  • Wheels appear flat and at an angle
    • Make shape more oval-like

Marble Trap

  • Good use of colour and shading
  • Too many marbles in tile, makes it look busy
  • Marble size too small
  • Hard to recognise as marble
    • Extend shine/highlight on top
    • Kind of look like blueberries at the moment
  • Good spacing between marbles
  • Spacing between marbles is too uniform
    • If game is end of the world, marbles would appear less straight and orderly

Spike Trap

  • Make spikes taller + pointier
    • Spikes appear blunt at the moment
    • Unsure how much damage the spikes cause
  • Add more dimension + depth
    • Suggestion: 2-3 shades of colour per element
  • Spikes are a bit crowded and hard to see
    • Suggestion: add fewer spikes and make spikes themselves bigger

House

  • Distinguished 3D effect
  • Add another plant to make the structure more detailed
  • The building itself lacks colour
  • The perspective effect is not accurate enough
  • Building exterior needs more detail

Trap

  • Lack of details
  • Lack of colour
  • Should remove the black outline
  • Consider more 3D visual effects

Tower

  • Identifiable as a tower
  • No perspective, add depth
  • Suggestion: remove the black stroke
  • Suggestion: add richer colours

Changes for Next Design Iteration

Trojan Horse

  • Add 3D perspective to object
    • Use 3 shades of colour per element
  • Centre horse to the middle of the platform
  • Adjust wheel perspective
    • Make shape more angular (30 degrees)
    • Make shape more oval-like

Marble Trap

  • Make marbles larger
  • Use fewer marbles (~ 5)
  • Make spacing less uniform
    • Turn into cluster instead of rows (potentially in a flower formation)
  • Dimension
    • Extend the shine/highlight length to make it look more glass-like

Spike Trap

  • Make spikes larger and taller (+ 2-3 pixels)
  • Use fewer spikes (~ 5)
  • Dimension for platform
    • Use 3 shades of colour per element
    • Add wooden texture using different shades of pixel lines

House

  • Adjust the perspective
    • Straighten to 30 degrees
    • Make viewpoint higher so that the top of the roof is shown
  • Building facade changes
    • Add more colours (~ 3 shades of brown)
    • Add wooden texture (use straight vertical pixel lines with varying shades)

Trap

  • Use borderless drawing (replace black outline with darker shade of chosen spike colour)
  • Add more details ('skeleton' structure, hinges, red target at the centre)
  • Add 3D perspective (use 2-3 shades per element)

Tower

  • Adjust the perspective relationship to make it look more three-dimensional
  • Use borderless drawing (replace black outline with darker shade of applied colour)
  • Add colour (orange, blue, yellow, brown)

Round 2

User Feedback Notes

Trojan Horse

  • Good use of colour for dimension
    • Big improvement from last version
  • Wheels appear to be too high in relation to wooden platform
    • Suggestion: lower by 2-3 pixels
  • Front wheels are not aligned
    • Suggestion: move front right wheel back so that it matches the back wheel
  • Make horse bigger, more impact
  • Add shadow underneath the horse to make it look more realistic

Marble Trap

  • Good use of shading
  • ‘Flower’ formation is more playful than previous version
  • Suggestion: add drop shadow underneath marbles

Spike Trap

  • Spikes itself are flat in comparison to board
    • Suggestion: draw at same angle platform
  • Spike placement
    • Suggestion: make spikes even bigger
    • Suggestion: add more spikes/increase density
  • Would be cool if it got bloody as the enemies walked on top
    • Suggestion: Space out the wooden texture a bit more (have less detail)

House

  • Very easy to identify
  • Rich details and suitable colors
  • 3D perspective is fully considered
  • Suggestion: remove the black stroke
  • Suggestion: enlarge the size
  • Suggestion: consider the effect of the surrounding map

Trap

  • The size is too large for the map
  • I don't know what the trigger looks like

Tower

  • Looks like this tower is too short
  • The colour doesn't look like a tower

Changes for Next Design Iteration

Trojan Horse

  • Wheels
    • Make wheels 2-3 pixels lower in relation to wooden platform
    • Align wheels on opposite sides
  • Horse
    • Make the horse larger
    • Add shadow underneath the horse make it more realistic

Marble Trap

  • Add drop shadow underneath marbles

Spike Trap

  • Spikes
    • Make more angular (adjust perspective according to grid angle)
    • Make larger
    • Add more spikes
  • Wooden platform
    • Have more spacing between detail lines to make wooden texture more sparse

House

  • Consider surrounding maps and add more land details (foliage, bushes, ivy)
  • Increased size for a larger footprint (covers 4 grid tiles)

Trap

  • Size can be reduced by 25%
  • Add the effect map after triggering
    • Create animation effects using Procreate

Tower

  • Increase the height of the tower by 10 pixels
  • Keep existing colours but darken their shades
    • Add more dimension (2-3 shades per element)
