User testing session where we asked people to show the expected location of the buttons in the game
Target audience (participants) in both research methods were derived from target audience analysis from Sprint 2 and persona needs from Sprint 3.
Thank you for joining us today. Today during the testing session, we would like to talk to you about the Save and Load game functionality. There will be two different tasks where you need to identify your next steps.
Question 1: Imagine that you were playing a game and now you need to go pickup your children from the childcare. Please describe what would you do before leaving your home in relation to the game
- save the game
- exit the game – why? I have more urgent things to attend to
- save the game
- close the lid – why? I will return to the game when I’m free
- save the game
- leave computer open – why? Continue with the game later
- save the game
- turn off the computer – why? I always turn off my computer when I’m out
- quit the game
Question 2: As you can see there are no buttons right now. How would you save the game? Can you think of an option?
- I think in the top right corner when I click on the settings icon
- When I click Esc key the menu appears and save it
- I need to click an icon somewhere on the screen, maybe here (points to the chest) or maybe here, you know like a small icon here (points to the top right corner)
- Settings button
- “Esc” on my keyboard from there I can choose to save or load
- Going back to the main screen
- When I click on the chest because it resembles some valuable information
- I don’t know, but definitely something like an icon next to the settings and go back images, cause its logically correct place, I think.
As a secondary research method, a survey was used to evaluate potential position of the buttons on the screen
