For sprint 3, as seen in Figure 1 we focused on designing a user interface for the Save and Load game functionality. However, since user interface directly relates to the user experience - from correct location of the buttons to cognitive association we had to ensure that the game offers positive gaming experience for our user group and helps them play Atlantis Sinks game with pleasure. To achieve that we deployed several user testing sessions along with surveys and interviews to collect data and refine the idea. That way we made sure that the Save and Load state went beyond designing a set of pretty buttons. Figure 1: Final design of UI elements for the Save State functionality of the Atlantis Sinks game
In relation to the Save and Load state during this sprint we:
- Identified primary user group of players
- Justified the existence of the Save and Load game state
- Conducted user tests to identify the location of the Save and Load State
- Produced design style for welcome screen
- Developed design style for gameplay screen
- Justified final design overall look and feel
- Run additional user testing session to confirm final design
