Specification

The target audience for this test were the users within the our studio. Three questions were asked to gain insight on their vision for the eel, with one extra question for additional comments the user may have. The feedback will be used to validate our final design.

Purpose

The purpose of the test was to know what users envisioned for the eel. This includes:

  • What type of projectile should the eel have?
  • What body parts should be animated?
  • What functionality should be achieved?

Design of Tests

To meet the goals of the test, 3 questions were designed.

  • What type of projectile do you imagine the eel ideally having to best suit the theme of Atlantis Sinks?
  • What body parts of the eel would you like to see animated in future sprints?
  • What would you definitely like to see done in Sprint 2 specifically in relation to the eel?

The final question allowed for any additional recommendations from the user. All questions provided a short answer response, allowing users freedom in their answers, not influenced by multiple choice options.

Results

Timestamp Question 1: What type of projectile do you imagine the eel ideally having to best suit the theme of Atlantis Sinks? Question 2: What body parts of the eel would you like to see animated in future sprints? Question 3:What would you definitely like to see done in Sprint 2 specifically in relation to the eel? Any other comments please put here!
9/10/2022 17:21:35 Electricity the tail and fire hand Path finding
9/10/2022 18:07:38 an energy orb might be the easiest to do but I quite like the idea of either an energy or electricity beam the tail, maybe some movement in the arm
9/10/2022 18:32:21 Water ball? Maybe The head and the neck I would like to see it waving its hand XD I like the eel! Great work !!
9/10/2022 20:34:19   The flame on the hand
9/11/2022 13:03:10 Electric ball Head and arms Attack animation
9/11/2022 14:50:51 Electric Bolt or Water Bolt Tail and lower body maybe? Just to indicate some sort of walking/moving Pathfinding and a projectile

Analysis

From the results above some general conclusions can be made:

  • 66% of users liked/wanted an electric projectile to complement the eel. The remaining users also envisioned a water projectile.
  • 50% of users wanted the tail and arm animated on the eel, being the most popular body parts. Following this 30% of users envisioned the head moving in some manner.
  • The responses of what users would like to see functionality wise were mixed however a general agreement wanting pathfinding done was found. As this is not a design feature, this question did not support design progress as intended.

Summary

Thus, in general the responses collected validated our work, as most users were happy with an electric projectile and tail animation. As majority of users also wanted to see the arm animated on the eel this will be added in future design iterations.
