Building Popup Design

As a result of user testing in sprint 4, it was determined that moving all building related actions to their own popup would make for optimal user experience. The popup would have the same layout as the shop & inventory to ensure design continuity, and players would be able to purchase and place buildings in a central location. This reduces the number of input actions required to buy and place a building.

A comparison of the input required to place a building between the old and new design is outline below:

Old building shop and inventory: click on shop -> click on building shop category -> select the building -> click buy -> close the shop -> open the inventory -> select the building -> place the building

New building popup: click on build button -> select the building -> press buy and place -> place the building

The icon & high fidelity design for the building popup were informed by the UX Committee's design guidelines & also design continuity between the other shop & inventory popups, and are as pictured:

Building Popup Implementation Testing & Validation

The below GIF illustrates the use of the building popup where buildings are placed as soon as they are purchased (note: the cursor in the GIFs is offset due to resolution differences between the screen capture and the game).
