DeckEditorComponent Test - UQcsse3200/2026-studio-3 GitHub Wiki
Manual test plan: Deck Editor (Card Inventory popup)
This plan covers only what the unit tests in
DeckEditorComponentTest
don't: how the editor looks, real mouse clicks, draw order, and how it works with the rest of the
battle screen. It's written for the version of DeckEditorComponent that has page buttons and no
preview or badges.
Setup: Start the game (for example ./gradlew desktop:run from source/) and go into a
battle. You'll need a deck of more than 10 cards for the paging tests. Open the editor with the
Card Inventory button on the left of the battle screen.
Record: tester, date (DD/MM/YYYY), branch and commit, and a screenshot for any failure.

1. Layout and appearance
| # |
Steps |
Expected |
Pass |
| 1.1 |
Open Card Inventory |
A dimmed backdrop and a centred window titled "Card Inventory" with an X button |
☑ |
| 1.2 |
Look at the card grid |
Up to 10 cards in 2 rows of 5, evenly spaced, inside the window and clear of the title bar |
☑ |
| 1.3 |
Look at the card art |
Each card shows its own image, not stretched or cut off |
☑ |
| 1.4 |
Look at the page buttons |
"<" just left of the grid and ">" just right, both centred vertically on the grid and not overlapping any cards |
☑ |
| 1.5 |
Look at the footer |
The summary text is under the grid on the left, "Set Deck" is on the right, and the error line (salmon colour) is below them |
☑ |
| 1.6 |
Select enough cards to make the summary long |
The text wraps inside its area and doesn't run under "Set Deck" or outside the window |
☑ |
| 1.7 |
Resize the game window and reopen |
The grid and page buttons still line up with the window |
☑ |
2. Clicking cards
| # |
Steps |
Expected |
Pass |
| 2.1 |
Click an unselected card |
It turns light blue and the summary count goes up by 1 |
☑ |
| 2.2 |
Click the same card again |
It goes back to normal colour and the count goes down |
☑ |
| 2.3 |
With two copies of the same card in the deck, click one copy |
Only that copy turns blue |
☑ |
| 2.4 |
Look at a card on cooldown (in the discard pile) |
It is shown dark grey and can still be clicked |
☑ |
| 2.5 |
Click a card that's on cooldown |
It turns a blend of grey and blue, so it looks different from both a normal selected card and an unselected cooldown card |
☑ |
| 2.6 |
Click quickly on several cards |
Each click registers once, with no double toggles |
☑ |
3. Paging
| # |
Steps |
Expected |
Pass |
| 3.1 |
Open with 10 or fewer cards |
Both page buttons look disabled and do nothing when clicked |
☑ |
| 3.2 |
Open with more than 10 cards |
"<" looks disabled and ">" is enabled |
☑ |
| 3.3 |
Click ">" |
The next cards appear in the same grid positions; "<" becomes enabled |
☑ |
| 3.4 |
On the last page |
">" looks disabled |
☑ |
| 3.5 |
Select a card on page 2, go back to page 1, then return to page 2 |
That card is still blue |
☑ |
4. Draw order
| # |
Steps |
Expected |
Pass |
| 4.1 |
Click an empty area inside the window, away from the cards |
The cards and page buttons stay visible on top of the window |
☑ |
| 4.2 |
Click the window title bar |
Same: the cards and page buttons are not hidden behind the window |
☑ |
| 4.3 |
With the popup open, try clicking the hand cards or "End Turn" behind it |
Nothing behind the popup reacts |
☑ |
5. Set Deck and the battle screen
| # |
Steps |
Expected |
Pass |
| 5.1 |
Select 4 cards and press Set Deck |
"Pick exactly 5 cards." appears and the popup stays open |
☑ |
| 5.2 |
Select a 5th card |
The error message clears |
☑ |
| 5.3 |
Press Set Deck with 5 different cards and at least 1 energy |
The popup closes, the hand row shows the 5 chosen cards in the order you selected them, and energy goes down by 1 |
☑ |
| 5.4 |
Reopen without changing anything and press Set Deck |
The popup closes and no energy is spent, because the hand didn't change |
☑ |
| 5.5 |
Spend all your energy, then try to change the hand |
"Not enough energy to rearrange the deck (needs 1)." appears and the hand and energy are unchanged |
☑ |
| 5.6 |
Include a card on cooldown in the 5 and confirm |
That slot in the hand row is shown disabled and becomes playable once its cooldown ends |
☑ |
| 5.7 |
Play a card after rearranging |
It plays normally and the hand row updates as usual |
☑ |
6. Closing and reopening
| # |
Steps |
Expected |
Pass |
| 6.1 |
Press X |
The popup closes and no card or page buttons are left on screen |
☑ |
| 6.2 |
Change the selection, press X, then reopen |
The selection goes back to the current hand, on page 1, with no error showing |
☑ |
| 6.3 |
Open and close the popup about 10 times |
No duplicate or extra card buttons appear, and there's no noticeable slowdown |
☑ |
| 6.4 |
End the battle (win or lose) with the popup closed, then start a new battle and open it |
The editor opens normally with the new battle's deck |
