Policies - UNGPhysics/welcome GitHub Wiki
Membership
Because some of our private repositories will contain sensitive information (e.g. exam solutions), only faculty members should be given membership to this organization. Note that this does not prevent others from contributing to projects; students are still welcome (and encouraged) to participate.
The organization "owners" will be responsible for the general management of this account. Current owners:
- Nathan Harrison
- Another volunteer?
Naming conventions
Since this organization is shared among all of our faculty, we should be conscientious when choosing names for new repositories. Using descriptive names can help minimize confusion and/or conflicts. For example, phys2212-harrison
is a much better repository name than just phys2212
for obvious reasons.
Public vs private repositories
Any sensitive material (e.g. exam solutions) should only go into private repositories (but very sensitive information (e.g. passwords) shouldn't go into a repository at all). Repository permissions are highly customizable and the level of privacy is up to the discretion of repository owner(s). Note that no repository is 100% private - the organization owner(s) has (have) full administrative control over all repositories.
