What is the purpose of the PCP

As it's name suggest, the PCP is comprised of the cloud-based infrastructure currently employed by the SPICE project. All of this infrastructure is strictly service-oriented on the basis of both internal services as well as those made available to clients of the organization.

In terms of cloud-based virtual machines being employed by the project, these are based in AWS and ACG as of now, each of which providing different services to the project. AWS is primarily geared towards "Rapidly Scalable Temporary Cloud Infrastructure Deployment" which is primarily utilized in service to the University of Maine Cybersecurity Team for educational labs and practice competitions that last no more than a couple of days. On the other hand, ACG is used for permanent infrastructure for hosting of services internal to SPICE such as our logging and monitoring infrastructure.

The last sector of the PCP is responsible for managing DNS for the .spicelab.org domain and all of its sub-domains, the biggest ones being the maps and the dcp. This is being managed with Microsoft Azure and is notably the only function of Azure that the SPICE project currently employs.
