Before patching, send a message in the SPICE Discord @CONTRIBUTOR with a time that maintenance will be happening to ensure nobody is using a host that will be going down. Try to send a message at least a couple of hours in advance.

All credentials for SPICE workstations can be found in LastPass.

Part A.

  1. Open up the On Campus Patching Plan

  2. Power on a Nutmeg workstation

  3. Log in using the credentials that are in LastPass

  4. Open a terminal and run the following commands sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade

  5. Log out

  6. Repeat till finish

  7. Record the hosts, and acquire the Cumin chromebooks


Part B.

  1. Connect the chromebook to the network by connecting to VLAN 10 on Mustard. Ethernet adapter’s can connect to the chromebook via usb. They can be found in the box labeled “Ethernet Adapters”.

  2. Browse with guest>Go to Settings>About Chrome OS> Check for updates

  3. Restart device > check for updates again, if up to date, proceed to step 4, else repeat this step.

  4. Power off

  5. Record progress in the patching plan form

  6. Close chromebook and repeat with the next one


Part C.

  1. Connect Lavender to VLAN 10 on Mustard, via ethernet. USB to ethernet adapters can be found in the be found in the box labeled “Ethernet Adapters”

  2. Log in using the credentials that are in LastPass (hint: they are identical to Nutmegs)

  3. Open a terminal and run the following commands sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade

  4. Power off

  5. Record progress in the patching plan form
