SOSA/SSN
Purpose
The SOSA and SSN ontologies are an essential "foreign" component of the CDM. These ontologies are managed by W3C. They provide the conceptual basis for observations, sampling, and actuation in the context of using sensors and actuators.
These ontologies will be used by many other parts of the CDM. Each part may need its own adapter. In the following, you will see:
- the Topology adapter
Version
We base our works on the current draft revision of SOSA/SSN (29/2/2024 at the time of writing) documented in this W3C page.
Adapters
For general information about adapters, see Adapters.
RSM Topology adapter
The diagram below shows how classes rsm:Feature and rsm:Geometry (both derived from the homonymous GeoSPARQL classes) are linked with the SOSA/SSN ontology. This coupling allows to express that geometries do not come out of nowhere, but result from an observation of existing infrastructure (or, possibly, the design of a new one).
