How do we start and stop recording video? What is the interface?
How long does it take to start recording video?
When powered on and recording, how much power does it take?
How do we tell what state the camera is in, e.g. how do we tell whether it's recording, idle, off etc.
How do we go about getting video off the camera? How reliable is this method?

This breakout/intervalometer seems to work with external triggers as shown here. Also, this has fairly detailed instructions on how to do just about everything with the GoPro, like connecting it to sensors and whatnot.
