Description
In this article author Roald Hoffmann discusses the recent trend of the Nobel prize in chemistry given to what certain purists would describe as non chemists. He goes on to talk about the significance of the prize and what it actually does. In Roald Hoffmann's opinion these supposed non-chemists actually are doing chemistry and chemistry as a whole is done a disservice by attempting to remove them. Finally the Nobel serves, rather than a real recognition of the best science, as an inspiration for young people to encourage them to pursue science.
