To use Stata, follow the following steps:

1. Logon to the CS department server farm using ThinLinc.

2. Open up a terminal window within the ThinLinc window.

3. Logon to the server jake:

    ssh -X jake
   

   • jake is a server on the cluster
   • The option "-X" ensures that x forwarding is enabled. This is needed for graphics.
   • username and password for jake are for the CS cluster. These may be different from those for server farm.

4. Make sure Stata module is loaded.

5. Start Stata

   xstata-mp
