Welcome to the Admissions Child Theme wiki! This documentation is intended for anyone adding content to a site with this theme activated, and for developers that maintain sites using it.

This documentation assumes a basic understanding of WordPress and how to create and manage content. If you're new to WordPress, please take the time to familiarize yourself with the basics until you're comfortable with using the admin interface.

The Admissions Child Theme is a WordPress theme developed by UCF Web Communications, intended specifically for the front-facing Undergraduate Admissions website. It is dependent on the UCF WordPress Theme as a parent theme.

This theme is built using the Athena Framework, a front-end web framework that provides mobile-first responsive styles tailored to UCF's brand guidelines. We strongly recommend that both content editors and developers familiarize themselves with the Athena Framework to better understand this theme and how to style content using it.

Project goals

This theme was built as an extension of the UCF WordPress Theme to provide templates and other functionality specifically for the Undergraduate Admissions website. Because this theme is designed specifically for use by Undergraduate Admissions, the ability to override functionality provided by this theme is limited.

Should I use this theme on my site?

This child theme is only intended for use on the UCF Undergraduate Admissions website. If you require similar functionality or templates included in this theme, please consider forking your own version. Note that the majority of the templates and functionality used on the Undergraduate Admissions website are provided by the parent theme, which you may prefer to use instead for your project.
