ABOUT

GOGcli GUI and gogcli are an alternate solution to Galaxy, for downloading your GOG games library 'Offline Installer' files.

Please Note - Some of the program windows of the GUI, have been slightly modified since I began this tutorial.

GETTING STARTED

  1. Download gogcli - https://github.com/Magnitus-/gogcli/releases

  2. Download GOGcli GUI - https://github.com/Twombs/GOGcli-GUI/releases

  3. Extract 'GOGcli.GUI.zip' to a folder called 'GOGcli GUI'.

i.e. C:\Program Files\GOGcli GUI

or C:\Users\Timboli\Documents\GOGcli GUI

or etc

You may have to set read/write permissions for the 'GOGcli GUI.exe' program file.

  1. Extract 'gogcli.exe' from its zip file to that same folder.

  2. Run (execute) 'GOGcli GUI.exe'.

You should see a splash image.

Followed by an error message ... just close it.

And then finish up with the program's main GUI window.

With the only likely difference being the path in the 'Download Destination' field.

  1. Click the SETUP button ... one of the few not disabled at this point.

That will result in the following window, with default options set.

  1. Read the information near the top of the SETUP window.

  2. Click the CREATE COOKIE button. That creates an empty 'Cookie.txt' file for you to populate. It also enables the disabled buttons etc.

  3. Obtain the required cookie data.

I just needed a line starting with 'gog-al='.

There are a few ways you can get that. I most recently used a browser addon (extension) to get mine, but Magnitus elaborates on other methods at his 'gogcli.exe' GitHub page in the README section.

It is likely that the cookie data will be good for 6 months or more before you need to obtain it again.

COOKIE DATA

I use the Brave (Chrome clone) browser, and installed a Chrome addon to get cookie data.

Get cookies.txt - https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/get-cookiestxt/bgaddhkoddajcdgocldbbfleckgcbcid

I used that addon to save a cookies.txt file while logged in at GOG on a GOG page, and then extracted the last line (for me) of that saved file, that started with 'gog-al='. I then pasted that as the sole content in my earlier created 'Cookie.txt' file.
