Custom Settings
• Setup
As an alternative to the default game modes or 'Presets', hosts can choose to modify existing Presets by selecting a mode and tapping the [⚙️] icon on the top left or even create custom game modes by choosing 'Custom Settings' from the main menu. Below is a breakdown of the sections and what effect they have on gameplay.

🕒 Time
The Time setting alters the amount of time allotted during each turn for both drawing and writing turns.
Note: Times listed are based on the 'Solo' preset and may vary slightly when applied to different modes.

📝 Task Flow
The Task Flow setting determines the types of tasks given to players during the round, such as adding or removing drawing and writing turns.
Option | Description |
---|---|
Writing, Drawing | Task flow starts with a writing turn, followed by a drawing turn. |
Drawing, Writing | Tasks flow starts with a drawing turn, followed by a writing turn. |
Only Drawings | All turns consist of drawing turns only. |
Only Writing | All turns consist of writing turns only. |
Writing Only at the Beginning and the End | The first and final turns are writing turns with drawing turns, all others are drawing turns. |
Writing Only at the Beginning | The first turn is a writing turn, all subsequent turns are drawing turns. |
Writing Only at the End | All turns are drawing turns, except the final turn, which is a writing turn. |
Single Sentence | One writing turn for the entire round. |
Single Drawing | One drawing turn for the entire round. |
Solo Drawing | One drawing turn for the entire round. Each player has a separate album during the reveal. |
Drawings with a Background | Tasks include a drawing turn where players create a background, followed by a drawing turn to add things in front of the previous turn's background. |
Drawings with a Background, No Preview | Identical to 'Drawings with a Background, however players do not get a preview of the background from the previous turn. |
🔁 Turns
The Turns setting determines the total amount of turns each player will get during the round. The higher the number of turns, the longer the round will be, which is reflected in the Estimated Duration section.
Option | Description |
---|---|
Few | A small number of turns, equal to approximately 20% of the total number of players. |
Most | A moderate number of turns, equal to approximately 70% of the number of players. |
All | The number of turns is equal to the number of players. |
All +1 | The number of turns is equal to the number of players plus 1. |
200% | Sets the number of turns as equal to double the number of players. |
300% | Sets the number of turns as equal to triple the number of players. |
Single Turn | Sets the total number of turns to 1. |
Numbered Turns | Sets a specific number of turns. Options include 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, or 20 turns. |
🖼️ Keep Drawing
The Keep Drawing setting determines if content from previous turns is carried over to the following turn.
Option | Description |

Disabled | Each turn starts with a blank canvas. |
All Drawings | Each drawing turn builds upon all previous drawing turns. |
Only the Previous Drawing | Each turn keeps the drawings from the last turn that preceded it. |
🎖️ Scoreboard
If enabled, Gartic Phone tracks how close drawing and writing turns get to prompt and awards points automatically, however the metrics by which the game awards points are unknown and therefore the points awarded are typically arbitrary.
👁️🗨️ Secrecy
If enabled, drawings and sentences will be hidden. This setting is sometimes referred to as 'visibility' by players.
🎬 Animation
If enabled, the drawing tools will be replaced with the animation tools and drawings will be converted into frames which playback during the reveal.
🛡️ Moderation
If enabled, a moderation link will be generated which allows the host to preview the content before revealing it to the audience, useful for combating trolls and vandalism.
▶️ Estimated Duration
Provides an approximate total time for the entire round to be completed. Does not include the time to reveal the results.
▶️ Additional Options
Includes options for sharing access to the current session and a button to begin the round.
Match Settings
• Generates a shareable link that copies the exact settings applied to the current session.
Individual Invite
• Generates a shareable link that is single-use only.
Invite
• Generates an open invite link, accessible to anyone with access to the link.
Start
• Begins the round after a brief countdown.
