In Sapphory, slavery is tightly regulated by the state. However, there are believed to be anything up to a hundred illegal slaver groups operating on the island, their sizes ranging from small bands who opportunistically snatch a few women to large organised crime syndicates employing more sophisticated methods like blackmail and usury.

Slave Breaking

This section contains spoilers for Best Frenemies

The process by which illegal slavers take control of the minds of their victims is featured in Best Frenemies, where it is used on Missy and Jessica, though interrupted before the process is completed. It nonetheless has an extreme effect on the two girls, even after just one day.

Slaves being broken in this manner are first plied with drugs. The slave breaking substance contains Nyinyo Weed, Tinkleflower and sodium pentothal. THe Nyinyo heightens the girl's receptiveness to sexual stimuli, the Tinkleflower acts as a potent narcotic and the Sodium Pentothal makes them temporarily more compliant. Once under the influence of this concoction, the victim is then humiliated and repeatedly brought to orgasm for a period of several days. The orgasms themselves provide only a fleeting release and the victim is soon begging her captors to be allowed to cum again.

A typical slave breaking session lasts around 9 hours with a mandatory 12-hour rest in between to prevent cerebral haemorrhaging. It is required that the process restart as quickly as possible once the rest period is over to ensure that the girl is broken as quickly as possible, as the longer it goes on, the greater the danger of her becoming physically addicted to the slave breaking drugs.

Most girls last around 3-4 days before their minds accept enslavement. The most stubborn can resist for just over a week. No one is known to have ever successfully resisted the process. The ordeal creates a powerful sense of stockholm syndrome and the slave quickly comes to want to please her tormentors - eventually becoming conditioned to want little else.
