Install using an Android phone

Before continuing, you need to enable developer mode on your headset! There is a tutorial on how to do it here!

⚠️ Support of Android devices is hit-or-miss, if you have a PC it is recommended to follow PC Guide instead! ⚠️

Installing a file explorer in your quest

• If you already have a file explorer in your quest, go directly to the install within quest guide

Requirements

• An android device (phone/tablet).
• A cable to connect your Quest to your Phone. If your android device charges with USB-C you can use the cable that came with your quest.
• The app Bugjaeger. You can find it on the play store.
• The app CX File Explorer. You can find it on the play store.

Enabling USB debugging

1. Open Settings.
2. Enable and enter developer options (This varies between phone manufacturers, search how to do it depending on your device manufacturer).
3. Scroll down and toggle on USB debugging.

Connecting you quest to your phone

Using the cable previously mentioned on the prerequisites connect your quest to your phone. It may work only using a specific side of the cable on the phone and quest, if you follow this guide and it didn't installed CX File Explorer, try using the cable the other way around.

Trusting devices

Do NOT accept file access on the quest, or this could not work at all. After connecting your quest to your phone, check for any popups in your phone and quest, if there is one, you need to accept it.

Installing the apk in the quest

1. Open Bugjaeger.
2. Click on the the packages tab.

3. Click on the the plus icon in the top right corner.

   

4. Select from installed apps.

4. Select CX File Explorer.

5. Wait for the app to install.

6. After the app installs, you can unplug the headset.
