Tools and Equipment
By using materials from The Wound in fearsome rituals, you can craft new equipment, or baptize your current equipment in Wound Ichor and Chrism to transform it into powerful new forms with eerie abilities.
Combat
Jawblade
An ancient blade used by one warrior to slay a thousand of his enemies. Echoes of his rage still surge through the bone, setting both the blade and the wielder's teeth on edge.
As attacks are made with this weapon, ichor will build up on the blade, visually reflected by the weapon gradually turning more and more red. When the blade is completely drenched (a total of 16 attacks are required,) it can be used to give the user the Berserk effect. This effect grants a large boost in attack speed, attack strength, and movement speed. While Berserk, continually slaying enemies will increase the duration of the effect, making this effect particularly useful if you're going up against hordes of enemies. However, when this effect ends, the user will gain the Exhaustion effect for a short amount of time, which has an inverse effect to Berserk. This is a sword-type weapon with average attack speed. Attacks made while the user has the Berserk effect do not contribute to building up the weapon's ability.
This weapon and the Berserk effect is inspired by the character Tainted Samson and his mechanic from 'The Binding Of Isaac.'
Butcher's Cleaver
The berserkers who once used this weapon were fearsome forces on the battlefield, tearing into their foes like mad dogs, and feasting on their hearts, growing more frenzied with each grisly meal.
As attacks are made with this weapon, ichor will build up on the blade, visually reflected by the weapon gradually turning more and more red. When the blade is completely drenched (a total of 12 attacks are required,) it can be used to consume the viscera from the blade, healing the user and giving them ten seconds of Strength and Damage Resistance. This is an axe-type weapon, and as such it has a slower attack speed and can disable shields.
Sacrificial Dagger
An implement of sacrifice from a time when men still feared The Wound as they should, offering sacrifices in hopes that the shedding of blood would pacify and stave off the Blood Moon.
This weapon, by itself, has a very fast attack speed, but very low damage. However, using it will damage the user, and cover the blade in blood, granting it more power for the next 18 attacks. As attacks are made, the amount of blood on the blade will decrease, as will the amount of bonus damage. A fully drenched Sacrificial Dagger deals 8 damage, dropping to 7 after the user has made 10 attacks, and back down to the default damage, 5, when the blade is dry. To maintain optimal damage with this dagger, you should sacrifice health to it just before it reaches half-dry, as the amount of damage taken by the user decreases with how covered the blade is.
Additionally, while this weapon is at least partially covered, all attacks it makes have a chance to inflict one level of the Hemorrhage effect on targets. This effect does nothing while the target has level 1 or level 2 of it, but when the level of the effect reaches 3, the target will instantly take 1/4 of their max health (capped at 15) as damage. The chance to inflict Hemorrhage scales with how covered the weapon is, with the chance being 1/2 when the blade is fully covered, and 1/3 when it is only partly covered.
Inspired by the Sacrificial Knife from Sanguine.
Sacred Spear
A tool of communion with The Wound, ceremonially thrust into the air to pierce the veil between dimensions and cause The Wound's wrath to fall on the enemies of the enemies of the ritual-master. The chanting of the madmen can still be heard distantly as one performs the ritual... 'Nihil! Nihil! Nihil!'
This weapon attacks slowly in melee, having the same speed and damage as a trident, but excels in its projectile and magical attacks. When used normally, it will fire off a red phantom replica of the trident's blades, with each hit having a 50% chance to inflict a level of Hemorrhage on the target. When used while crouching, however, the user will begin charging up an incantation that, after a short charging period, will instantly fully Hemorrhage every nearby mob that is not allied to you. For each affected entity, you will receive a small amount of healing, or Health Boost if you are already at full health. This ability consumes a significant portion of the weapon's durability. After using this ability, the weapon's blades will be drenched in Ichor, which can be dispersed by attacking or firing projectiles. Each attack made while the ability is on cooldown will not impact the weapon's durability, and has an additional bonus chance to inflict a level of Hemorrhage, with melee attacks having a 50% chance, and projectiles having a 75% chance. It takes 10 attacks or projectiles before the ability can be used again.
Inspired by Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear from Elden Ring.
Warham
Did someone order this dinner to go?
This weapon consists of a large amount of cooked meat, bound to a bone. It can be used as a powerful shield-disabling club with a slow attack speed, and also eaten if you are hungry, providing a very good meal with a significant amount of saturation. Taking a bite from the Warham consumes a significant portion of its durability, however.
Tools
Fleam
A tool used for ritual bloodletting, the life-giving power of The Wound suffused within its blade. Spilled blood gains a will of its own, ready to perform the user's bidding.
This tool, despite having a curved blade, is not very useful as a weapon. Instead, it can be used to inflict a small amount of damage on the user, spawning a Morsel in the process. Morsels appear as tiny replicas of the user, and act as temporary minion mobs that will protect you and attack your enemies. They may not have much health, but they are speedy, and a horde of them can quickly overwhelm the average foe. By interacting with a Morsel, you can consume it, dismissing it but recouping some lost health and hunger. You monster. Alternatively, if you use the Fleam while crouching, each nearby Morsel that belongs to you will be automatically called back to you and absorbed at once, allowing you to quickly regain some health.
Inspired by the character Tainted Eve from 'The Binding Of Isaac.'
Sanguine Chalice
A sacred cup used once to imbibe the Chrism of The Wound, welcoming new converts to the order. A precious thing that retains the alchemical properties of any liquid poured into it.
This chalice will automatically fill with ichor as you slay enemies. After slaying a total of 12 enemies, the chalice will be completely full, which is visually reflected in game, allowing you to drink it to regain 10 health. If you are already at full health when you use the chalice, you will be granted some Absorption hearts instead. This item can also grant a secondary potion effect, which can be assigned by holding a potion in your off-hand with the chalice in your main hand, and using the Chalice. This should work on any potion, or any item that uses the PotionContents compound tag or component. For most effects, this will give you 15 seconds of the effect, but Healing and Harming effects (if you want a chalice of Harming for some reason) will be instantaneous. The level of the potion, and any effects the potion had, will be identical when given by the chalice, meaning this can apply to potions like Turtle Master.
Based on an item of the same name from Sanguine.
