Foods And Consumables
This mod adds many new sources of nutrition, some giving powerful effects, as well as some items that can be used for a one-time effect. What's the point of having flesh-monsters if you can't eat them? Any foods or items that give an effect when consumed will have a tooltip in-game displaying what the effect is.
Foods
Jerky
The finished version of this mod will include a mechanic allowing you to dry out certain mod items to obtain Ichor in a collection basin, leaving behind the dehydrated form of the item. This can also be used to cure vanilla meat items, turning it to Jerky. This food does not directly restore much hunger, but if offers quite a bit of saturation.
Exalted Flesh
A common drop from Wound mobs. Flesh suffused with the vital energy of the Wound, making it highly reactive, but dangerous to consume carelessly. If eaten, there is a 60% chance for the user to gain Strength II, but also a 60% chance for them to gain Hunger III. Both of these effects last for 15 seconds.
Cooked Flesh
The cooked form of Exalted Flesh, now made safe to consume, but lessened in its potency. A nutritious meal that gives Strength I for 10 seconds.
Cured Flesh
The dehydrated form of Exalted Flesh, which has the same food properties as Jerky, but gives 10 seconds of Resistance I when eaten.
Consecrated Flesh
Exalted Flesh suffused with purified Ichor, essentially pickled in the lifeblood of The Wound. Has the food properties of Cooked Flesh, and gives twelve seconds of the Berserk effect (see the Potions and Effects page) if the user currently does not have Berserk or Exhaustion.
Cooked Heart
While consuming a raw Heart is... inadvisable, cooking it will transform it into a hearty meal that instantly restores some health.
Cured Heart
The dehydrated form of the Heart, which has the same food properties as Jerky, and gives ten seconds of Regeneration.
Heart Of Gold
A Heart that has had its otherworldly volatility muted by a plating of gold ingots. Can be eaten even when full, and restores a large amount of hunger and saturation, as well as applying the Absorption effect for one minute, or until the bonus hearts are exhausted.
Consumables
Bottle Of Ichor
A bottle of the tainted lifeblood of The Wound, a byproduct of it missing an essential organ to produce its purified form, Chrism. Still a useful ingredient in certain rituals, as well as empowering weapons and restoring health. If held in the off-hand while the user holds a weapon or tool from this mod that has a mechanic based around wetting the blade with blood, an Ichor Bottle can be used to partly fill the item. Additionally, the bottle can be drank to restore some health, at the cost of inflicting Hunger II for 15 seconds, and a chance of also inflicting Weakness for 7 seconds.
Bottle Of Chrism
A bottle of the purified lifeblood of The Wound, glistening with an almost holy light. Like a bottle of Ichor, it can be used to fill certain weapons from this mod, with a Chrism Bottle filling them to their maximum. Additionally, the bottle can be drank to fully restore your health, or give a level of Absorption if you are already at full health. There may be much more important uses for this precious liquid in the future, however...
Bolus
A small clump of organic matter, chewed into a paste by the food-processing sub-organisms of the Wound and mixed with a nourishing compound. Usable as a universal food and growing item for animals, as well as a potent bonemeal substitute that is even capable of growing Nether Wart.
Multiplying Morsel
A strip of Jerky baptized in tainted Ichor, suffusing it with a lifegiving power, but far from perfect. When eaten, it will drain your hunger, rather than filling it, but spawn 1-2 Morsels, tiny copies of yourself that will defend you and attack your enemies. If you want to recoup the loss in hunger, you can interact with these Morsels to regain a small amount of health and hunger. You monster.
Parasite Eggs
Eggs laid by loathsome parasites that wormed their way into The Wound from our world after the phenomenon of blood moons began, quickly mutating into monstrous forms. This item can be used to deal a small amount of damage to yourself, spawning 2-3 Parasites that will hunt down nearby monsters and attack them once before returning to their owner. Upon reaching you, they will disappear, giving you some healing. They are vulnerable to attack, however, so this item may be best used if an enemy is already focused on you. The item itself deals 1 damage (half a heart) and each parasite that returns to you restores 3 health (one and a half hearts,) so if even one reaches you, you'll be gaining more health than you spend.
Using this item in the water will spawn squirming Leeches that can swim swiftly, but are sluggish on land. Otherwise, it will spawn flying Mosquitos.
