Blood Moon Rising
The night falls, a red moon rises, and creatures from another dimension bridge the gap between our worlds. Test your mettle against creatures from The Wound, and harvest their flesh and bone to gain visceral powers and perform mysterious rituals.
This mod is meant to be a fleshpunk/blood magic themed expansion to Minecraft, adding a challenging new 'blood moon' world event. When this event happens, normal mob spawns will be replaced with flesh monsters from an alternate dimension known as 'The Wound.' These mobs can be slain for new materials that will allow the player to craft powerful and unique new gear that draws on vital energies to gain power. By obtaining rare Hearts from more powerful mobs, the players can perform rituals to instill them with power, and imbibe them to gain a buff that lasts until you remove it or die, at the cost of some of your max health. To counterbalance this, this mod also adds some new ways to get the Absorption and Health Boost effects, as well as ways to heal on the go. Overall, this mod is intended to offer a challenging but fun combat and magic themed experience.
The finished version of this mod will likely be quite large, with several complex and unique mechanics, so I am preemptively splitting this wiki into multiple pages to cover different topics. They are sorted into the following topics, which will be expanded as new demos and betas are released:

What will the finished mod look like?
The player's experience with this mod will begin with the first Blood Moon, as an eerie red glow tinges the sky and their screen. Normal mobs will stop spawning, and the ones that remain will be overtaken, or in some cases hunted down by invading mobs from The Wound. Not all of these creatures are immediately hostile, in fact some have their own uses, or steps can be taken to make them friendly to the player. After gathering enough materials, the player can begin using The Wound to their advantage, crafting items that can be used to postpone the next Blood Moon, gain extraordinary powers, or sacrifice their max health to gain powerful permanent effects through the use of Hearts.
A major focus of the mod will be on how The Wound acts as a superorganism that has grown to the size of an entire dimension, with each mob that spills out of it being part of its natural processes, immune systems, antibodies, or a byproduct of something important being stolen from The Wound. Even some overworld mobs have been overtaken by the creeping flesh, or wormed their way into the wound to be transformed by its power.
Is This A Sanguine Remake?
Many of this mod's features and overall themes are based on the Sanguine datapack by Insomniacs. I was sad to see that Sanguine would no longer be receiving updates, and unfortunately it never really played nice with other mods to begin with, so I was motivated to try and make my own Blood Moon themed project. This mod is not intended to be a 1:1 copy of Sanguine, nor will the finished version have all the same content. This is my own project, meant to stand on its own legs. Some items that are highly based on Sanguine items are included, but are always expanded with my own additional mechanics or changes.
