• Sapping Ability

African Mercenaries are recruited from the lower ranks of Carthaginian society. They are, for the most part, immigrants from Libya and Numidia who came to Carthage in search of wonder (and gold). They are equipped with a shield and a spear, so they are defensive troops best used against cavalry. They are not the best soldiers, but they still are reliable infantry, and usually make a large part of the battle line given they are cheap and numerous.
