The Marian Reforms trigger when the Roman factions control a combined 41 settlements or more.

The Legion Reforms become obsolete (but the Auxiliary System remains).

The pre-marian legion units are replaced with Legionary Cohorts. Legions (composed of 1 Legionary First Cohort and 9 Legionary Cohorts) become available for recruitment in cities with the Roman Polity and Army Barracks buildings, at the cost of 2.000 population and 7.500 denarii. Legionaries no longer replenish gradually.

At a later date, these legions will be replaced by Imperial Legions.

Roman generals switch their bodyguard from the Consul's Bodyguard to the Proconsul's Bodyguard.
