Windows 1.01

Introduced in 1985, Windows 1.01 is the first improved version of Windows1.0. Windows 1.0 was Microsoft's first attempt at a user graphical interface for a PC operating platform and the first version of Windows operating system released by Microsoft. It is based on the MS-DOS operating system. In fact, version 1.0 itself is not an operating system, but at most is a DOS-based application.

In this system, the role of the mouse gets special attention, users can click the mouse to complete most of the operation. Windows 1.0 came with some simple applications, including calendar, notepad, calculator, and more. Another notable feature of Windows 1.0 is that it allows users to execute multiple programs simultaneously and switch between them, which is unthinkable for DOS.

Windows 1.03

Version 1.03 was released after a couple months of last version 1.02 in 1986. It is a little upgraded from version 1.02. It features additional device drivers, an improved SDK and updated Control Panel, Reversi, Write, and Paint to 1.03, the rest is 1.02

Windows/386 was much more advanced than its 286 sibling. It introduced a protected mode kernel, above which the GUI and applications run as a virtual 8086 mode task.
