Frequently Asked Questions
I will now house frequently asked questions on this page.
Questions
- 1 : Will it be possible to install any other mods with this mod?
A : I don't know, it depends on the mod.
- 2 : Will it be possible to play KotOR's story then TSL's story as the same character?
A : No due to variable limitations imposed by the game saves it is not possible to just merge both global variable files.
- 3 : Do I have to install both Expanded Galaxy & the Port?
A : No.
- 4 : Can I be a voice artist for the project?
A : Not for the foreseeable future as the dialog needs finalising first.
- 5 : When will this project work on the original Xbox or other platforms than PC?
A : Possibly a long time in the future when I get around to testing all platforms.
- 6 : How do you mod KotOR or TSL?
A : Learn ( start with looking at tutorials )- https://deadlystream.com/topic/6886-tutorial-kotor-modding-tutorial-series/
- 7 : Can I use content from your project for a mod?
A : Yes, as long as you give me and the others mentioned as contributors or toolmakers in the projects readme the proper credit you may use anything from the Project as a whole to build mods. ( except redistributing the entire package and included mods, please build on top and link to installing my project first )
- 8 : Can I install TJM or the Revenge of Revan Demo like shown in your Video or posts?
A : Not currently for TJM at least, but I am working towards getting permission to release the TJM template, however I have already released the RoR Demo Template.
- 9 : How much will this change the original games?
A : I am going to try and stick to the Lore of the Universe and both games as much as possible as well as try to make sure that all additional content is optional so that a playthrough of just the original content is possible as well with the odd exception of content from TSLRCM and eventually making M478 optional.
- 10 : What are the benefits of having the KotOR in TSL's engine?
A : There are almost too many to list. So here is a short list.
- Dual Weapon Sets
- Better Engine
- 16 Planets in Both Games
- Both games run under one installation
- All content is available for future modders from both-games. ( cut-scenes, levels, items, animations, characters and more! )
- 6 Swoop Tracks ( when I have fixed the KotOR1 Tracks )
- The possibility for side-quests and expansion set after the game.
- Free-roam at the end of the game, which I have already added to both games.
- Yuthura as a companion, who I have already added using cut dialog.
- Level 50 Cap and the second games force powers and perks.
- The addition of Lightsaber forms, which I will be adding when companions join the group. ( Juhani, Jolee & Yuthura )
- Better dialog system. ( more options for modders )
- Native HD Resolutions with Aspyr's patch and the Steam Version!
- A save importer that carries progress over from the first game to the second game.
- The ability to repair the Ebon Hawk, K1 ( Not Broken ), K2 ( Broken ).
- As many reasons as there are planets, if not more.
These reasons might not all apply to the first game and there are many more that I haven't noted here.
Some listed features are things I have yet to add or work on, there are also things not noted there such as the ability to have multiple characters or saves.
- 11 : Why doesn't Force Speed Blur work on the new levels?
A : This is a result of the current version of the models, which will be fixed with a new converter at some point.
- 12 : Why does it skip the Bastila Torture Cutscene?
A : Because it was crashing for me sometimes and for the moment I skip over it.
- 13 : How many levels are there in the project? ( modules )
A : 347 for now... ( there are a lot less now, but there is the potential to expand back to this by having a post game expansion that changes every module in the game through a system I added to the exit ebon hawk script that exits to an appended version of the original level name, this will allow the levels during and after the game to be kept separate from one another )
- 14 : Who is working on this project?
A : Pretty much just me, but I have had a little help here and there.
- 15 : When will the project be complete?
A : It is a life-long project so it could be years.
- 16 : How long do you expect it to take?
A : Before KLE came out 2-10 years, now hopefully 1-2+ Currently it has been in development for approaching 5 years but I have been busy with a lot of other projects so that isn't a constant development cycle.
- 17 : What will Free-Roam bring to the game?
A : Hopefully repeatable quests and respawning enemies.
- 18 : Can I go back to Taris in K1 or K2?
A : No.
- 19 : What is the storyline for the project?
A : Ideas are all over the place, but I will drop a link to the design document here once it's properly prepared.
- 20 : How regularly do you plan to release patches?
A : once every 2-4 weeks, or less, or more depending on what is required or possible.
- 21 : Why are the projects called K2 main and K1 port?
A : Because the project is split into two or three parts, Knights of the Old Republic ( the Port ), Knights of the Old Republic II ( the Main ) and Brotherhood of Shadow : Solomon's Revenge.
- 22 : Are any of your development streams recorded?
A : Yes, they can be found on my YouTube Channel. - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1WjCi4LRS6CV__sM5pQ8UQ
- 23 : What bugs exist in the project currently?
A : Check 🔧bug-reporting on the Discord server to see what's going on and ask about any issues you might be having, or post to the issues board on GitHub.
- 24 : Are there any saves for the project where I can get in the Ebon Hawk and fly to the new planets?
A : There is one available in the repository, but as things change this will need to be updated or edited accordingly so it might not always work.
If you would like to test and or help update these save files regularly please let me know.
- 25 : How can I better navigate the Discord Server or GitHub page?
A : Read the about section of each channel at the top and use the appropriate categories on the Discord Server and check the Readme & Wiki on the GitHub.
